A British university has given back four spears taken more than 250 years ago from an aboriginal community in Australia by explorer Captain James Cook.
The county’s Department of Planning is creating a public tool that will help reduce flood risk for human life and property while protecting and restoring Maui County’s important natural wetland ecosystems, county officials announced.
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will conduct a hazard reduction burn Wednesday 22 September at Little Congwong in La Perouse at Kamay.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) in conjunction with Fire and Rescue NSW is planning a hazard reduction burn at Malabar Headland, Wednesday 28 April.
Ideal weather conditions have enabled this essential hazard reduction burn beside Pioneers Park which is intended to improve fire protection for Park and neighbours.
Fire plays an important part in the health on our native bushland areas and the burn at Malabar will help protect significant natural heritage values within the national park.
All walking tracks in Malabar Headland National Park (Western Section) will be closed during the hazard reduction burn and may remain closed for a day or two afterwards, while the mop-up operations are completed.

The Navy has deployed two ships and a P-8I long range maritime patrol aircraft for the France-led multi-lateral maritime exercise La Pérouse which began in the Eastern Indian Ocean on Monday. The exercise also includes other countries of the Quadrilateral grouping Australia, Japan and the U.S. with India participating for the first time.
Separately, a multinational military exercise Shantir Ogroshena 2021 began in Bangladesh on Sunday in which an Army contingent of 30 personnel is participating.
“The exercise will showcase high levels of synergy, coordination and inter-operability between the friendly navies. Participation by the Navy in the exercise demonstrates the shared values with friendly navies ensuring freedom of seas and commitment to an open, inclusive Indo-Pacific and a rules-based international order,” the Navy said in a statement on La Pérouse.

NEW DELHI: India and the three other Quad countries kicked off a major naval exercise with France in the Bay of Bengal on Monday, underlining the growing strategic congruence in ensuring a secure and stable Indo-Pacific in face of China’s belligerence in the region.
India deployed its advanced stealth frigate INS Satpura and anti-submarine warfare corvette INS Kiltan, along with P-8I long range maritime patrol aircraft, for the three-day “La Pérouse” exercise led by France.
