New Lex Lady Panthers claim outright MVL Small School title
NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio – Wednesday was National Girls and Women in Sports day, and fittingly, we had plenty of girls basketball action.
The New Lexington Panthers clinched a share of the Muskingum Valley League small school division title Saturday afternoon with a win over Coshocton. Wednesday, they had a chance to claim the outright division title when they welcomed the second place Morgan Raiders to New Lexington
It’s all smiles for the Panthers as the nets come down for the first time in 20 years.

Kansas City Kansas Community College’s ninth ranked Lady Blue Devils took no chances of letting an early 8-point lead get away Saturday.
Limiting Central Community College to one free throw the first seven minutes of the second quarter, the Blue Devils used a 12-1 run to open a 36-19 lead on the way to a 90-57 win in Columbus, Nebraska. The win boosted KCKCC’s record to 2-0 heading into the home opener against Park University’s junior varsity Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Ten Blue Devils scored in the win, four in double figures. Freshmen Hanna Valentine had 18 points and DeQuaria Guillroy 16 to lead the way while sophomores Aliyah Myers and Jada Mayberry added 12 and 11. In addition, freshmen Trinity McDow scored 8 points and Faith Putz and Lacy Whitcomb 6 each.

The Mynderse Academy and Newark varsity boys basketball teams split their regular season match-ups in Finger Lakes East play this season but the rubber match would come on the biggest of stages for Section V basketball, the Blue Cross Arena, with the Class B Championship on the line.
In a low scoring contest, Mynderse would grab a 12-9 lead after the first quarter of play and added to the lead by outscoring Newark 8-4 in the second period. The score at halftime was shockingly low at 20-13. The Mynderse defense continued to stifle Newark in the third quarter holding the Reds to just four points while Mynderse started to distance themselves from their opponents thanks to interior scoring from Jake Mein and a six-point third quarter from Mynderse senior guard Brett Anderson.
