Amid forecasts of continued heavy rains in the rural town for the next two weeks, Ladysmith government officials claimed that some residents were failing to adhere to weather warnings.
Cooperative Governance spokesperson Siboniso Mngadi says the department is trying to get to the bottom of why the town is so heavily affected. In December 2023, at least 23 people died after massive floods swept through Ladysmith.
