Local law-enforcement officials addressed concerns about a recent string of violent crime during a community meeting in Thibodaux.
In the latest incident, a teenager was shot to death at a party last week in Houma in connection with what investigators believe is an ongoing feud between “groups of people from the Thibodaux area and groups of people from the Houma area.”
Wednesday s gathering at the St. Luke Community Center was organized by Thibodaux City Councilwoman Constance Johnson and Lafourche Parish Councilman Jerry Jones to provide information and allow residents to share concerns.
Thibodaux Police Chief Bryan Zeringue said combatting crime remains a top priority but hiring enough officers has not been easy.
