The house which was built in 1953, according to Essex County property records was unoccupied when the fire broke out. No one was hurt, according to Lake Placid Fire Chief Torry Hoffman. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Essex County fire investigators. After the Lake Placid Police Department investigated a call about smoke in the area and confirmed there was smoke billowing from the eaves of the home, the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 9:44 p.m. Twenty-two firefighters arrived at 163 Victor Herbert Rd. to help.
