SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Bulldozers, excavators, and other demolition equipment are still a ways off for South Lake Tahoe’s Motel 6. It currently sits boarded up with a surrounding chainlink fence and security camera.
The California Tahoe Conservancy has acquired a parcel along the Upper Truckee River that groups have eyed for decades as integral to restoring watersheds in the Tahoe Basin, as well as the lake's clarity.
