A lawsuit to block enforcement of Louisiana's new ban on transgender health care procedures for anyone under 18 was announced Monday by LGBTQ+ advocates.

The suit alleges that the ban strips parents of their right to champion their children's health choices and discriminates against them based on sex and transgender status.

The law took effect January 1 after the legislature overrode the former governors veto.
