A HORSE-drawn carriage will travel through Burnley Wood on Saturday morning for the funeral of a local darts ‘celebrity’. Dorothy Sullivan (nee Taylor), 84, was made an honorary member of the Lancashire Darts Association in 1989 and also picked up the prestigious Silver Arrow award . She regularly featured in the Lancashire Telegraph for travelling across the county with the Lancashire League town team between 1980 and 1990. Her son Mark has paid tribute to ‘Dot’ who leaves seven children Yvonne, David, Mark, Gail, Gary, Tracy and Donna. He said: “She was adorable and very happy and salt of the earth. “The amount of people from different places that have been in touch to pass on their messages have been great.
Fawad Alam’s Test career started all the way back in July 2009 in Colombo when in
Pakistan’s second innings he scored an assured 168 at the top of the order out of a team total of 320.
Fawad’s illustrious team-mates that day in
Sri Lanka included Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf and Misbah-ul-Haq, but it was the Karachi-born left-hander who caught the eye.
It wasn’t enough to save Pakistan from a seven-wicket defeat, but the general consensus was that Pakistan had unearthed a gem, a gritty and determined batsman who would serve them very well and for many years to come.
