Addition of Two Partners Continues Morgan Lewis Expansion in Washington, DC.

Morgan Lewis today welcomes Meaghan Kent, an intellectual property litigator, and Denise Wood, a telecommunications infrastructure lawyer and former in-house counsel, as partners resident in Washington, DC.

Even though the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has already issued lengthy, detailed rulemaking proposals under Chair Gary Gensler, the highly prescriptive scope of its new ESG risk disclosure plans for investment funds and advisers has still shocked some attorneys. 

Regulators are poised to make sustainable investing easier and are also also likely to step up scrutiny of the marketing of ESG products.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s recently proposed rule on how retirement plans can make investment decisions that consider environmental, social and governance factors significantly revises regulations adopted at the end of the Trump administration, paving the way for plan fiduciaries to more easily consider ESG factors, say attorneys at Morgan Lewis.
