SIR – I wonder if striking workers ever give a second thought to those whose businesses they will destroy in pursuit of their selfish – and, in most cases, unrealistic – claims.

SIR – The extreme courage and determination displayed by President Volodymyr Zelensky, and the people of Ukraine, in the face of an assault by the fifth largest army in the world, are truly admirable.

SIR – The first week of Cop26 has seen hundreds of private jets, Tesla cars recharged by diesel generators, the obscene emissions of Joe Biden’s entourage, India stating it will take 50 years to reach net zero, and China not even present – and all for the sake of some unenforceable pledges.
