Nearly 4000 nurses finished their shift early this morning and immediately took to the picket lines. Its all about ensuring Patient Safety and nurse safety. Strikes happening at a total of three area hospitals run by the professional registered nurses association. They say theyve not had a contract with Santa Clara County in months. Theyre demanding improvements in staffing, keeping nurses to just one hospital and improved security to prevent workplace violence. Keep up with the fast pace of orders. Now. Californias new 20 minimum wage aims to help those workers keep up with the states rising cost of living. A vast majority are adults. About a quarter have children of their own, and the pay is so low right now that one half of all fast food workers in the state either themselves or have a Family Member whos relying on one of our social safety net programs.
