Today. First at noon, d. P. S. Searching for a hitandrun driver who hit and killed a man on i17. This happened around 2 00 this morning. Ron hoon joins us in studio now. D. P. S. Tells us it was about 2 00 this morning they received some 911 reports. Two vehicles were pulled off the side of the black canyon freeway, the i17 at the thomas road onramp. Just minutes l man had been hit by an suv that came driving by. And here is the scene of where the killing happened. D. P. S. Says the victim, a man in his early 20s, he was pulled over to the side of the road after his car stalled. Authorities say a Good Samaritan attempted to come to his aid and help to jump start the car. But the driver was suddenly strike by another vehicle driving on to the 17. He died at the hospital. Would have been bustling today on a monday but today the gates closed and the halls empty because of the cracks and outer walls and foundations the district tells us that they were doing some weatherization projects last year at landmark and challenger they noticed damage to the outer walls. The campuses built in 1987 by over the summer engineers surveyed the scope of the deficiency and thursday they got word that the buildings were not guaranteed safe. A district spokesperson says the state facilities board gave the okay for the 2. 4 million needed for the repairs. The legislature has cut more than 90 of their funding for improvements since 2008.
