Cork County Council officials have apologised for failing to fulfil their legal obligation to fully translate the latest draft of the County Development Plan (CDP).
Cork County Council has been found to be in breach for the second time of a scheme it has agreed with the Gaeltacht Minister to publish official documents such as the County Development Plan simultaneously in Irish and English, the State’s official languages.
Cork County Council officials have defended the authority’s attempts to publish an Irish version of the County’s Draft Development Plan at the same time as the English version because the time spent on translating the 756,000 word document would have led to a shorter public consultation period or a shorter timeframe for councillors to consider the document.
