SAN ANGELO June 1 marks the beginning of LGBTQ+ Pride Month, and the beginning of a month packed with festivities in San Angelo. Pride Month is celebrated across the country by LGBTQ+-Americans in honor of the Stonewall Riots, which occurred June 28, 1969 and galvanized calls for equal rights and marches across the nation.
Open Arms RCC & LGBT+ Services in San Angelo is celebrating by hosting events through June, including a drag queen and comedy bingo.
This year s theme across the country is Better Together . Our theme says it all, said Lanie Rogers (She/Her/Hers), LGBT+ services advocate. We have missed being around people, especially those in our community, who look forward to coming together during these events to celebrate each other and to meet new friends.
