Clark County looks for next poet laureate

The Clark County Arts Commission is looking for applicants for the county’s next poet laureate. The two-year, volunteer post begins on April 15. The appointee will follow in the footsteps of the county’s first and second poet laureates, Christopher Luna and Gwendolyn Morgan, respectively. Duties include promoting poetry as an art form, expanding access to the literary arts and encouraging poetry as a regional voice that contributes to a sense of place.
Applicants should be practicing poets with published works who are Clark County residents over 18 years old. They should demonstrate a commitment to community outreach and collaboration with an emphasis on equity and inclusion through the arts. They should be prepared to shape a body of work that reflects their interests, skills and abilities.
