SAVOY â A longtime trustee is set to become the next village president of Savoy after he was the only candidate to file for the spring election.
John Brown, who has been on the village board for 15 years, is the only candidate running to replace Joan Dykstra, who is retiring.
Brown recently retired from the University of Illinois Police Department, where he served for 30 years, and is now working as a patrol officer in Tolono.
Brown, who lost to Dykstra in 2017, said he hopes to update the villageâs building codes and comprehensive park plan and hire a new economic development director.
