the third begins to wear them down. after awhile they begin to crumble a little bit. then there s a debate. and at that debate, whoever can take down the big guy, the old king is dead long live the new king, that could be a kingmaker moment for someone. in his speech last night, i, i, me, my, mine, me, i. he s more of an egomaniac. less able to conceal his ego mania than most politicians. i think there s also an element of a slight bullying feature to his personality. really? a little bit you think? he s always jabbing some poor female in the chest. he talks about ego today. this is him on presidential speculation. let s watch. i ve never seen it as a distraction. and i ve said before, i don t see it as a burden, either. you got to have a huge ego, right? to oh, please it s such a burden
determined. because a lot of it is personal. and this is a unique personality who conveys kind of a strength and a really strong leadership style that i mean, i think the next election will be about changing washington. it s one thing everybody hates. you want to send somebody down there to bust up all the china in the washington china shop. that s a chris christie. who else could do that? it s not about message, it s about the man. but at some point people are going to ask, what does he stand for? what issues is he in favor of? is he going to dismantel obama care, are we going to go reinvade iraq? what is he about? i think last night s speech was i think a terrific speech as you said, p.j. he s a very likable guy. i instinctively think i could vote for this guy. he s terrific. but he said nothing about what he actually had done in new jersey apart from sandy. he said nothing about his own positions, which on some critical issues are really against the base. this is a guy in favor
ratings are already at all-time lows. they can t sink any further in the public s estimation. and we re looking at sequester and continuing resolution. we re going to have another debt ceiling debate in the summer. now rather than the burden being on the democrats to figure out the problems, i really think the burden is on the republicans because if they have cause these crises time and time again, the american public sees what is going on and understands who is responsible. the president is offering them the chance to avoid the disaster. he is doing it with a combination of let s raise some revenue through tax loopholes on the rich. but he also made an offer on mower mar medicare last night. we ll rooster subsidies to prescription drug companies. and ask more from the wealt wealthiest. we ll bring down the costs by
tonigh tonight. marco rubio, the day after. rubio went straight to television this morning to make fun of the only moment that people might remember from his speech last night. got to ask you about that water bottle last night? twitter went a little bit wild, you tweeted out the water bottle yourself, you got it there again. you showed an ability to laugh at yourself, do you have anything to add from the tweet last night? you know, i needed water, what am i going to do? it happens. republicans had high hopes that marco rubio would emerge last night as the savior of their party. democrats were not impressed by the performance last night, but it is republicans who will decide, who the next nominee will be. reaction to the speech is
i m doing what i can, just through administrative action, but i need congress to help, i need congress to do their part. we just have to work together. we ve got to stop with some of the politics that we see in washington sometimes, that s focused on who s up and who s down. but what evidence is there that republicans are listening? judging by the reaction of the state of the union address, not much. with the exception of his impressive delivery and trademark style, last night s speech was pedestrian, liberal, boiler plate that any democratic lawmaker could have given at any time in recent memory. the white house may be setting something of a trap politically for republicans. in fact, some republicans are worried about this. the president is pushing proposals that are popular with the public. so even if he doesn t have a legislative strategy to get them
