Lynchburg community members step up to stop violent crime Kelsey Childress
The Lynchburg community is joining together to reduce violent crime rates within the area.
Latoya Watson, mother of the latest victim, has worked especially hard to raise awareness about the impact these crimes have on the community. She has organized weekly "justice walks," which start around 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Avenue Family Dollar. Watson said approximately 30 family members, loved ones, and children participated in the first walk, and she urges other community members to come for the cause.
"Any mother that's lost a child in a violent manner are welcome to come out, or anybody that just wants to walk and show support. You're welcome to come walk with us. We just don't want this face to disappear. As do a lot of parents, they don't want their children's' face to disappear," Watson said.
