Orion, which was launched on NASA’s Space Launch System on Nov. 16, completed its five-day path to the moon. NASA now plans to place Orion in lunar orbit for the next week.

Outlook for This Week in the Nation’s Capital Congress.  The House and Senate are both in recess this week. When the Senate returns next week, it will hold a procedural vote on a bill to codify the right to same-sex marriage. The House’s legislative schedule for next week has not yet been announced but Congress will be focused on passing government funding, the National Defense Authorization Act, and a host of other lingering priorities in December.

Orion’s arrival marks the first time the US space agency has been to the moon since the 1972 Apollo programme.
