Blood donations are urgently needed to help make sure people who are facing potentially life-threatening situations have the needed supply levels at Central Coast hospitals when going through emergency treatment.
As the national blood shortage continues to affect hospitals and healthcare providers across the country, many are looking to younger generations, including Gen Z, to help make up for the decrease in blood donations.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, there has been a "critical blood shortage," including on the Central Coast. To try to address this, the nonprofit Vitalant is hosting a series of blood drives in the area this month.
