New fundraising charity single released by students at King Alfred School

New fundraising charity single released by students at King Alfred School A fundraising charity single has been released by 87 students at Highbridge’s King Alfred School Academy Sixth Form featuring happiness and summertime. The students and staff have recorded a cover version of ‘Send Me On My Way’ by Rusted Root to raise funds for The MPS Society. It is the first ever charity single to be released from the school – and they are aiming for 10,000 downloads on Spotify and iTunes to try to get into the Top 40 charts. The popular song aims not only to raise funds for the charity but also to celebrate the bringing of people together again after a difficult 18 months for the world.

History teacher sings Katy Perry hit song to win first The Masked Teacher contest

Burnham history teacher wins first ‘The Masked Teacher’ contest Burnham-On-Sea history teacher Nigel Smith has been been named the winner of ‘The Masked Teacher’ competition in which King Alfred School Academy recreated the hit TV show ‘The Masked Singer’. Nigel belted out the tunes ‘World in Motion’ by New Order and ‘Roar’ by Katy Perry from his home as his alias ‘Panda’ to win. The runners-up were English teacher Torie Meredith as Pink Lady, science teacher Chelsea Atkins as The Thing, and French and German teacher Lee Disney as Angry Bird. The whole event was hailed a huge success, receiving 1,200 votes, and even praise from Mark De Lisser who works as a vocal coach to the stars on TV’s ‘The Masked Singer’.
