On Tuesday, Adolfo Villalobos is scheduled for a status hearing in the 406th District Court. Villalobos was indicted in October 2016 for the death of Vicente De La Rosa and the assault of Lauro De La Rosa. On April 6, 2014, the Laredo Police Department said it responded to a report of a shooting at about 2:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of Chestnut Street, located off South Ejido Avenue. Police said they arrived at the scene and found one man dead in the front passenger seat of a sport utility vehicle. He was identified as Vicente De La Rosa.

Pena said he and the prosecutor, Joshua Davila, are “very close to working this case out.” Due to COVID, it was hard for them to get together and negotiate, he said. Velasco was detained in January 2012 after Laredo police responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 4100 block of Declaration Drive in the Independence Hills neighborhood. His mother, Martha Velasco, 48, was found with multiple stab wounds in the kitchen area. She was later pronounced dead.

The defendants are David Romeo Garza Jr. and Adolfo Villalobos, whose cases date back to 2018 and 2014, respectively. David Romeo Garza Jr., 23, is accused of fatally shooting Laredo Heat Coach Jose Eduardo Salinas Jr., 22, in the face back in 2018. He was pronounced dead at the scene. In January, 341st District Court Judge Beckie Palomo scheduled a plea hearing for this morning. During a July status hearing that occurred via Zoom, Garza was home with COVID-19, according to the hearing notes.
