A large crowd of saddened mourners gathered Thursday in front of a luxury furniture shop in Los Angeles to remember the life of a 24-year-old woman who was killed while working inside in a crime that has left the city shaken and residents worrying about their safety.
Shawn Laval Smith was walking around in plain sight in bustling Pasadena, in a shopping district jammed with restaurants and shops, just 16 miles from where Brianna Kupfer was murdered.
The alleged murderer of Brianna Kupfer, a 24-year-old UCLA graduate student, on Jan. 13 in broad daylight in Los Angeles allegedly bit a cop the year before.
