Lawyers (back) in lockdown

Karmen Koh Allen, Law Society Intellectual Property Law Committee member When the first lockdown happened last spring, our Intellectual Property Law Committee (IPLC) meetings quickly moved online. At first, it felt like a big adjustment, but like everyone else across the country, we all quickly adapted to this new way of working. Almost a year on, all of our meetings now take place online. What I have missed: in a pre-Covid world, I loved walking into the buzz of activity at the Law Society’s Hall, and the opportunity to network with my fellow committee members, Law Society officers, advisers and guests.

Law Society Art Group embraces online exhibition

By Pey Kan Su2021-03-01T13:55:00+00:00 The Law Society’s Art Group is holding its 61 st Annual Exhibition. This year, due to the pandemic, the group will be holding the exhibition online hosted on the Law Society’s website. We miss the buzzing annual exhibitions traditionally held at the Law Society’s Reading Room in Chancery Lane. Hopefully, it won’t be long when the group can return to the Reading Room. In the meantime, we have embraced the online exhibition and believe that it will take the show to a new realm reaching a wider audience than is possible with a physical exhibition. As they said, every cloud has its silver lining.

Review: The Law Society Art Group 61st exhibition

By Eduardo Reyes2021-03-01T15:06:00+00:00 We likely all know someone who decared the restrictions of pandemic lockdown was their opportunity to learn Japanese or to start making sourdough, possibly while exercising with an online fitness trainer. Perhaps a more common expeience, however, has been to have less, not more, time as many things become harder and more time consuming to achieve. But finding space and time for something is important, and I’m especially pleased when I see examples of people finding time for art. The Law Society Art Group is one of the society’s oldest clubs, and it was thoroughly heartening to be told that its 61
