So when you see this many people coming out to do one thing. Not only is that impressive, it means youre looking at a not insignificant proportion of the population of that country. And in this instance, what all these icelanders are out there doing is doing their special cheer for their soccer team. The world cup is about to start. World cup starts in june. The world cup is like the olympics, happens once every four years except unlike the olympics, not every country gets to send a team to the world cup. You have to qualify to get your countrys soccer team into the world cup and thats very hard to do. For example, the United States mens team did not qualify to be in the world cup this year.
