Ledyard The Town Council voted unanimously Wednesday to authorize the signing of a lease for a new space for the Ledyard Food Pantry.
Once approved, the pantry, currently housed by the Ledyard Congregational Church, will occupy two classroom spaces at the former Ledyard Center School. The school was sold in 2019, and local businesses have begun moving into the space.
The food pantry is moving because it has exceeded the space available at the church; most recently, food pantry distribution has been held at the church s fellowship hall entrance for protection against the winter weather. A move to the new space, which will have about 1,650 square feet, is scheduled for April 1.
