The musical tells a true story that has become something of a legend: how, on 9/11, the residents of the small town Gander welcomed thousands of airplane passengers into their town on a moment's notice, building lasting connections with them in the week that they stayed there.

‘Come From Away’ filmed version of Broadway musical to be released

Although Broadway audiences can’t see
Come From Away, there’ll be another way for theatergoers to say Welcome to the Rock . According to Variety, a live-filmed version of
Come From Away is currently in the works, to be released this year.
Produced by Entertainment One, the upcoming
Come From Away film will mark the first time audiences can watch the full production away from the stage. The filmed version will be recorded at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre this May to be released in September, marking the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the Twin Towers.
