The bell tolled in Ithaca on 25 June, in Stavros and in Vathi, for Nick Sikiotis, 69yrs old, a man with many friends and, for me, my closest. Two weeks before his own death, for his last post on Facebook, Nick borrowed the words of Pericles: “What we leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what we have woven into the lives of others”.
