LEICESTER Leicester Country Club is permanently closing its banquet operation, but still plans to open up for golf as soon as weather permits.
Chuck Bois, the sales director at the club, said ownership made the decision due to the COVID pandemic. Bois expressed regret.
“I should be planning weddings right now,” Bois said Wednesday at the club.
Instead, he and country club General Manager Cheryl Orrico were calling parties who had made reservations for the facility. They said they would refund event deposits.
“Other venues have been calling us and offering their services,” Orrico added.
Bois said it was currently undecided whether the club would maintain food services for members. Several permanent positions were eliminated as a result of the decision, he added.
