The mother of a Deer Park ISD student who died after being hit by an accused drunken driver passed away from cancer on Nov. 28. 2023, according to her family.
Deer Park police said Leland Smith was drunk when he crashed into a light pole that hit the Deer Park ISD student who was walking home from school with her sister.
