MARSHALL - “They don’t come any better than Landon,” LeMar Worley said of his best friend Landon Franklin, a longtime firefighter with Laurel Volunteer Fire Department who died of cancer in March 2020 at 81 years old. Although it s been more than a year, members of the community still feel the loss and reflect on what he meant to them.
Landon Franklin spent 25 years working with Chief Emerson Franklin (no relation) at LVFD, where he served as a firefighter and a board member. Emerson said Landon remained invested in the fire department and attended board meetings even as he neared the end of his life.
