A statewide and even national teacher shortage doesn t seem to have reached Lenawee County. Local districts are looking fully staffed heading into the new school year.

SAND CREEK Steve Laundra was sure he was going to get hired by Pepsi coming out of college.
Then a small school called him about a business teacher gig. Laundra hadn t heard of Sand Creek, but his roommate from Adrian knew of the rural school. He drove Laundra to the interview.
Laundra would accept the teaching job but thought to himself, I won t be here for very long.
That was 40 years ago.
The son of two teachers worked his way up from teacher to athletic director to assistant principal to high school principal and finally superintendent, often times holding two positions at one time.
