Man charged in fatal shooting found competent to stand trial
A man charged last year in a fatal Tallahassee shooting has been found competent to stand trial.
Jonathan Andrews, 35, was charged with second-degree murder in the March 21 shooting death of Juarez Castro, 40. Castro was taken to a local hospital after the shooting near Barineau Road and later died.
Andrews allegedly shot Castro during an argument over money, according to an arrest report. Deputies with the Leon County Sheriff s Office apprehended him shortly after the shooting at a nearby mobile home park.
Last May, Andrews was found incompetent to proceed because of mental illness and taken to Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee. Last week, he was taken back to the Leon County Detention Facility after another mental-health evaluation.
