New York is set to receive $112.7 million as part of the agreement, one of nearly a dozen similar suits accusing the company of creating a public health crisis as teen vaping rates soared in recent years.
Residents at the elder care site were forced to sit in their own urine and feces for hours, suffered malnourishment and dehydration and suffered infections from gaping bed sores and inadequate wound care, the lawsuit details.
The lawsuit, filed in Brooklyn Supreme Court, names Jofaz Transportation, 3rd Avenue Transit and Y & M Transit as defendants and accuses them of letting their buses’ engines idle on hundreds of occasions for longer than the legal time limit, which is five minutes under state law and three minutes under New York City law.
