Joseph Parker claimed the vacant WBO Intercontinental Heavyweight title with a gruelling split decision win over Derek Chisora at the AO Arena in Manchester.
Chisora was making yet another pay-per-view appearance, but was in last chance territory in his ambitions of operating at the elite level.
After a bizarre bust up after the weigh in, where Chisora threatened to walk away from the contest after losing a coin toss as to who would ring walk second, Derek’s mother stepped in to calm her son down, and he eventually saw sense and relented.

Katie Taylor is still the undisputed lightweight champion, out-pointing Natasha Jonas over 10 rounds in Manchester to keep the WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO titles.
Taylor retained on scores of 96-95, 96-95, and 96-94. Bad Left Hook had it 97-93 for Taylor, but both did some good work along the way. Taylor was more active for most of the fight, her work rate carrying several rounds, and she did buzz Jonas once with a stiff right hand. But she also felt some shots from Jonas, who is the naturally bigger puncher, and the challenger did some very effective body work in the fight, too, making it competitive in the second half especially.

Derek Chisora vs Joseph Parker is scheduled for Saturday, May 1. The undercard is expected to start at 2 PM EST (7 PM BST) while the main event should get underway at around 5 PM EST (10 PM BST). The fight was originally due to take place in October 2019 but Parker had to pull out due to a spider bite suffered in his native New Zealand.
