The Meghalaya High Court on Tuesday urged the residents of Shillong's erstwhile sweeper's colony to be more reasonable in their negotiations with the State government regarding their relocation
The Court took strong exception to allegations that the members of the HPC, who would be affected by the relocation of a Sweepers' Colony in Shillong, were misrepresented in the Court.
“We fail to understand why the government is in such a hurry when a status quo has been ordered recently [by the Meghalaya high court],” said one community leader.
The Urban Affairs department has been directed to find a suitable location for relocation of people who reside in the area as those serving with the state government will be relocated to the official quarters of the concerned department: CM Conrad K Sangma
