BuCor names head of Leyte Regional Prison

Salvador as acting chief of the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP). In a statement, LRP said that BuCor also designated Corrections Senior Inspector Herold King A. Pablo as deputy superintendent for security and operations, and Tracy Soriano as deputy superintendent for administration. It said the designation of Soriano, who was installed to his post last May 10, was done following the passing of LRP Chief Corrections Senior Superintendent Danilo C. Dador last May 6. “The Acting Superintendent expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome of LRP and asked everyone to be united with the goal of our BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag in making the bureau become excellent in rendering exemplary government service,” it said.

BuCor has 14 active COVID cases; 1 inmate, 1 employee in hospital

Chaclag said on Thursday, April 15. Those in the hospital are an inmate of the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) and a personnel of the Leyte Regional Prison. Their infections were determined after they were subjected to reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests, Chaclag said. He admitted that based on rapid antigen tests, there are more persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) and personnel who have the coronavirus.

DOJ: BuCor looking to install signal jammers in its prison facilities

  The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) is looking into acquiring signal jammers for its prisons to prevent inmates from using their mobile phones, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Friday, Jan. 1.   DOJ Usec. Emmeline Aglipay-Villar said the BuCor is eye the purchase jammers for its six prison farms and colonies but no longer intends to put up more at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.   “BuCor has already jammers for NBP and plans to acquire signal jammers to cover all its prison compounds particularly in the Regions–Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Davao Del Norte, Zamboanga and CIW-Mandaluyong,” the DOJ spokesperson said.
