Four Indians, including three women, have been killed in a tragic drowning incident at an unpatrolled beach in the Australian state of Victoria, the worst tragedy in Victorian waters in almost 20 years, officials said on Thursday.

The Phillip Island drowning incident that left three people dead and another fighting for life has been described as Victoria’s worst in nearly two decades.

At a council meeting earlier this month, the warning was stark. If there were budget cuts to life saving, “we will see people drowned”.
