TEXARKANA, Texas -- Pleasant Grove, which has already clinched fourth place in District 15-4A, stayed in the hunt for third place by knocking off front-running Sulphur Springs, 53-47, in varsity boys basketball action Friday night in Hawk Gym.
Pleasant Grove broke open a close one-run game with four runs in the fourth inning for a 7-2 lead, and went on to an 8-3 victory over Liberty-Eylau Tuesday evening at H.E. Markham Field.
Liberty-Eylau's Lady Leopards finished in a three-way tie for second-place in District 15-4A play, but Athletic Director Dewaski Davis won a coin flip and secured the league's runner-up spot in the state playoffs.
