Morenci Stair District Library receives grant

The Daily Telegram MORENCI A grant recently awarded to the Stair District Library is intended to help the Morenci community overcome the loss of a local news source. The $3,000 from the American Library Association s Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries program is for projects to keep the Morenci community up to date on information around the world and locally. Namely, the grant will help the library become a place of public knowledge due to the recent loss of the community’s weekly newspaper, the State Line Observer. The paper ceased publication at the end of 2020 due to the retirement of its longtime editor and publisher, David Green.
