After approval from the Graham City Council this week, the city will have a four-month trial run for a new compressed work schedule for various city departments. The departments impacted by the change will be city hall, municipal court, the Library of Graham and the administrative offices of Graham Fire Department and Graham Police Department. City Manager Eric Garretty presented the proposal as a discussion item during the Thursday, April 11 meeting.
The Library of Graham and Friends of the Library were presented $7,000 last week from funding raised through the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Club annual Tour of Homes. Three area homes and a local business were showcased as part of the CLSC Tour of Homes held Dec. 13, 2023, which serves as a fundraiser for the library.
The Library of Graham was awarded a grant of up to $30,000 from the Priddy Foundation in December which will be used for technology upgrades at the city facility.
Following a recommendation from the Library of Graham Advisory Board, DeAnna Bullock was appointed as director of the Library of Graham by the Graham City Council this week. Bullock will move from an interim role to the permanent position overseeing the facility. Bullock began working at the library in early 2022 after working on a contract basis doing various projects while utilizing the library for her son’s tutoring. When former director Kelly LaFarge was appointed in February to replace Sherrie Gibson, Bullock saw new positions open at the library.
