Christmas came early this year for Sligo woman, Fiona Lavin who won the 6th and most successful annual Lidl Trolley Dash competition.
Fiona, from Ballymote, managed to grab more than €250 worth of Christmas shopping at the Lidl Sligo store with little more than a week left until Christmas! Fiona was one of 167 Lidl shoppers across the country, who won the opportunity to dash around their local store in a Supermarket Sweep style competition! Each winner had 2 minutes to fill their trolley with as many quality Lidl products as possible from festive flavoured soups to mince pies to turkeys.
With fundraisers compromised this year due to the pandemic, the funds raised from initiatives such as Lidl s Trolley Dash are paramount to charities and their service users. The €1 Trolley Dash tickets were sold in Lidl stores across the country from 16th to 29th November with all proceeds being donated to Jigsaw, Lidl s charity partner. County Derry shoppers have raised over £13,000 through an annual supermarket trolly dash, with one lucky shopper bagging over £100 of free shopping.
Limavady man Ricky Purdy managed to fill his trolly with £106.62 of shopping as he took part in the sixth annual Lidl Trolley Dash fundraiser, held locally in the town.
A total of £13,406 was raised through County Derry s shoppers, which contributed to an overall NI total of £100,000 raised for the supermarket s charity partner, the NSPCC.
