Peaky Blinders, and The Queen—has died from cancer. McCrory’s husband, actor Damian Lewis, shared the news in a statement on Twitter. She was 52. Advertisement “Heartbroken to announce that after an heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family,” Lewis writes. “She died as she lived. Fearlessly. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. Sh...

I grade Marvel shows based on how much I enjoy them. I admit I’m an impatient watcher—I’ve never been someone who enjoys watching very slow pacing, especially if the “atmospheric” elements are just a bunch of dark alleyways and people meeting and talking in code. I’m especially suspicious of any show that has a dearth of humor. Real people make more jokes than that in real life. At least, in my experience they do. But Marvel really exceeded my expectations for this show. Yes, there ...

Photo: Kevin Winter (Getty Images) Sorry, emo kids, you’re going to have to wait even longer to see My Chemical Romance on their comeback tour. While bands continue to announce very ambitious summer and fall tour dates, My Chemical Romance are opting to be extra cautious, pushing their previously rescheduled summer 2021 dates to spring and summer of 2022. Advertisement The band made the announcement on their site, writing, “We are deeply sad, but those emotions are only a fraction of the de...

Screenshot: Fox Week after week, the Masked Singer judges praise the celebrity contestants for bearing their hearts and souls out on the stage while performing under giant masks that prevent any of their facial emotions from seeing the light of day. In fact, just last week, judge Jenny McCarthy wept while listening to Piglet (who is most definitely Nick Lachey) perform Lukas Graham’s “7 Years,” a song she claims to have never heard before despite it playing on loop at every radio station...

France Is on the Brink of Banning Domestic Short-Haul Flights Alerts Travelers walk to an Air Corsica Airbus A 320 to Marseille during the Christmas holidays, at Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte airport on the French Mediterranean island of Corsica, on December 23, 2020. Photo: Pascal Pochard-Casabianca (Getty Images) People took fewer flights amid the covid-19 pandemic, which helped to lower carbon pollution from aviation by roughly 60%. Now, France is trying to make some of that reduction permanent...

Photo: John Biggs/Gizmodo The pandemic has proved that the future of fitness is online. Companies like Peloton and Apple have embraced online training completely, offering classes that seem as real and vibrant as anything held in a sweaty gym. Other companies like Hydrow are taking a more refined approach by creating a real-life experience in the real world, taking you on a trip across a rippling lake or down a distant river. Whats The Best Slim Steering Wheel On A Car You Can Buy Today? Photo: Mazda Years ago, I ranted about my distaste for most modern steering wheels found in current production cars. They’re just too thick and often too soft. I miss the old days of a thin, light circumference to grip. Now, a reader has emailed me to ask for some slim steering wheel options found on cars they can buy right now, so let’s help them out. Alerts Photo: Getty (Getty Images) The U.S. has a lot of work to do to draw down carbon emissions. But a new report shows that when it comes to the energy grid, things are actually in better shape than researchers thought it’d be by this point. Advertisement The analysis from the Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory takes a look back at federal projections from the Energy Information Administration from 2005. The agency forecast that carbon pollution tied to electri...

Confronting A Serial Killer is a gut-wrenching addition to the true-crime genre. Over its five episodes, the Starz docuseries offers the stripped-down, gruesome details behind Samuel Little’s killings of 93 women (possibly more), and the lapses in the criminal justice system that allowed him to remain free for over three decades before he was properly apprehended in 2012. Once a massive number like 93 sinks in, the viewing only gets more heartbreaking as the backstories of some of Little’s ...

There’s a minor character that appears in Rachel Kushner’s The Flamethrowers, one of many artists the novel depicts. But the woman—Giddle, as she’s called—is nothing so recognizable as a sculptor or filmmaker. Rather, her art consists of taking a job as a waitress and becoming “a girl working in a diner, glancing out the windows as she cleaned the counter in small circles with a damp rag.” A cousin to the fictional Giddle is the real-life Johnny Sherrill, a friend of Kushner’s ...
