An unidentified student was cited for making threats and displaying a BB gun at Lincoln Middle School on Wednesday, according to a news release from Fort Collins Police Services.
School resource officers investigated the situation and made contact with the student, ultimately determining the weapon displayed was a BB gun, according to the release. The student was cited for interference with staff, faculty or students of an educational institution, a Class 3 misdemeanor. The identity of the student was not made public per juvenile protection laws. The safety of our students and staff is a matter we take seriously, said Sgt. Laura Lunsford, who supervises the SRO program for Fort Collins police. I m grateful for the quick response of SROs and partnership with staff to resolve this situation and minimize disruption to the learning environment.
