KEY ACTION Approved the retirement of Superintendent Melissa Marconi and later offered her a new five-year contract beginning Aug. 1.
DISCUSSION Marconi s existing contract expires July 31 and she is eligible for retirement. She returns as permitted by the State Teachers Retirement System, State Employees Retirement System and Ohio Revised Code.
Under Marconi s new contract, she will earn $117,862 annually. According to district Treasurer Jason Norris said Marconi is the lowest paid superintendent in the county.
The terms of the superintendent s contract remain the same. Marconi has served as the district s top educator since 2016 when longtime Superintendent Al Osler retired. Previously, she served as high school principal.

OTHER BUSINESS:
Set board meetings to be held at 6 p.m. the second Monday of the month in the high school media center.
Approved a memorandum of understanding with Kent State University for college credit plus credits at no cost to the student and at a reduced cost to the district.
Accepted the resignation of Linda Earp, transportation/food service supervisor effective Dec. 2, 2021. Earp will retire with 41 years of service.
Renewed membership in Ohio School Board Association, OSBA legal assistance fund and Massillon Chamber of Commerce.

Morning services for Dec. 20 began in prayer led by Brother Doug Maag with 35 in attendance for Sunday school, and 45 for morning worship. The devotional was read from Luke 2:1-20, and the first song, Joy to the World.
Happy birthday to Bud Moss. Get-well wishes and prayers go out for Pam Joice, Audrey Holland, Linda Earp, and Jackie McIntire, as well as all mentioned on the prayer chain.
The Christmas program, presented by the youth, was held at 5 p.m. outdoors, with attendees watching from their cars.
Our annual business conference and elections will be held on the second Tuesday of January, the 12th, at 7 p.m.
