To take a year from a dancer’s performing life is about as cruel as you could be - their on-stage careers are already brutally short.
Curiously, some good things happened to dance in 2020, despite COVID-19. Mostly they were to do with communication – among dancers within their communities, and between companies and their audiences, which grew as the performers went online.
Dancers can’t just stop; they have to keep their bodies in good form. Every day. Even when there are no public performances in sight.
