In the drive conducted on May 29, as many as 403 cases were registered in the state, 11,785 litres of illicit liquor recovered and 79,455 kg raw material used in preparing illicit liquor was destroyed on the spot.

Hyderabad: Soon after the Telangana government announced a 10-day lockdown, starting Wednesday, tipplers indulged in panic buying across the city and liquor shops registered record sales, sources said.
Market watches said that alcohol worth around Rs 25 crore was sold between 6 am- 10 am on Wednesday morning, before lockdown came into force, in Hyderabad limits alone. Across the state, over Rs 125.41 crore alcohol sales took place during the same time.

Mizoram Congress tenders apology to churches, organizations for allowing liquor sale in 2015

Aizawl: Regretting the decision of allowing the operation of liquor shops in the Christian majority state of Mizoram, the opposition Congress party on Monday tendered an apology to the churches and the civil society organisations.
The party also asserted that due to the opening of the liquor shops during the 2018 assembly polls in the state, it has faced defeat.
While addressing a press meet at south Mizoram s Lunglei town on Monday senior Mizoram Congress leader Lal Thanzara who also happened to the former Health Minister expressed his apology for the mistakes the party has committed when it was in power during its term from 2008 to 2018.
