Line of Duty season 6, episode 3 recap: Talking points from the hit BBC One drama's latest episode

Don t show me this message again✕ With the sixth series of Line of Duty approaching its midway point, it seems like things are starting to heat up for Steve Arnott and co. Episode three features the most memorable set piece of the season to date, as nefarious officer Ryan Pilkington (Gregory Piper) attempted to drown a key witness and fellow police officer after a lakeside car accident. The scene embodies much of what makes Line of Duty great: it’s unexpected, edge-of-your-seat stuff that manages to sell a ridiculous twist as completely plausible.  Elsewhere, the episode is more subdued, though no less tense. DCI Joanne Davidson (Kelly Macdonald) is proving a wonderfully slippery foil for Arnott (Martin Compston), and the pair’s investigational tête-à-tête is carried over from last week without missing a beat.

Line of Duty recap: series six episode three – the old band are back together

Last modified on Sun 4 Apr 2021 17.01 EDT Spoiler alert: this blog is for those watching series six of Line of Duty (it also contains spoilers from earlier series). Don’t read on unless you have watched the second episode of the new series. Hello everyone – I am determined to get through this week without errors or mixing up episodes so fingers crossed because things are really heating up. We had a murder, an attempted murder, the probable setting up and arrest of Ian Buckells, a surprise sleepover, random drug testing at AC-12, a broken wrist, the discovery of the freezer Jackie Laverty was kept in and the OCG link between her murder and Gail Vella’s, Steve and Kate’s realisation that Ryan was the kid who attempted to cut Steve’s fingers off in series one and confirmation that Jo Davidson can stay as cool as a cucumber and clearly has links with the OCG. Hang on to your seatbelts and let’s begin.

Line of Duty episode 3 season 6 recap | Questions & theories

Sunday, 4th April 2021 at 10:00 pm Episode three of Line of Duty season six certainly played to the fandom. “The name’s Hastings, ma’am, I’m the epitome of an old battle” declared Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar), magnificently, in the face of opposition from his superiors. That followed hot on the heels of another classic: “My actions and the actions of my officers are determined by one thing and one thing only, and that is the letter of the law.” (Drink!) Advertisement And then there was this, from DCI Jo Davidson (Kelly Macdonald): “They keep banging on about organised crime. They must get a pound every time someone says OCG.” Meta?
