The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources granted Barari DV Ghana Limited a 15-year lease on the mine at Ewoyaa, on Ghanas southern coast, where the company began exploring for lithium six years ago. The prospect is highly valued by Ghana as it seeks to play a role in producing a key ingredient in electric vehicle batteries, demand for which is soaring as countries look to phase out fossil-fuel cars.

Shareholders' Goyder and Rinehart provide backing 

Exploration and development company Atlantic Lithium has been granted a mining lease for its flagship Ewoyaa Lithium Project by Ghana's Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.

The government has granted Barari DV Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of Atlantic Lithium Limited, a 15-year Mining Lease to commence the construction and mining of lithium at Ewoyaa in the Mfantseman area of the Central Region of Ghana.

NLC India Ltd, a state-owned mining and power generation company, is considering the mining of critical minerals, such as lithium. The companys chairman, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, stated that NLC India has the expertise in mining and wants to leverage this capability in critical minerals. The government is currently in the process of auctioning these minerals, and NLC India plans to participate.
