that s something we would have to look at and i m not ready to comment right now. the health care form legislation the the senate will soon take up, will the administration play a part in what that bill looks like, or will you essentially be hands off and let the senate do its work? i think we ve made it clear we ll be hands off in this process. it s a priority to fix a broken system. obama created a disaster. this is not something the president does hands off. he sully enged on the house side. i expect him to be fully engaged on the senate side and get the bill the american people deserve. thank you, sara. it s two-question friday. i ve got two questions for you. the first one on syria. about the de-escalation zones that they re talking about establishing, the administration has said there is reason to be cautious about those. could you elaborate on that and explain what some of the reservations are for the de-escalation zones and also how that plays into the safe zones the pr
expansion. the so-called age tax where older americans 50 to 64 are going to be charged much higher premiums than they have been under obamacare. so a number of provisions that people are objecting to, and perhaps the most significant of all, the number of people who could lose their insurance as a result of what passed in the house, should it ever become law. how ma people will lose their insurance? the last iteration was estimated to be 24 million. we saw protests at town halls. this time there s no number, because house leadership did not go to cbo or wait for the cbo to have a score before they put this bill on the score. a lot of people objected to the process. you can get that the senate is going to wait. they re going to take their time. and if they take it up, the bill is going to look a lot different than it does coming out of the house yesterday, craig.
that s not my call, because they wanted to tie this to reconciliation, and that had to move at some point if you re going to move forward with the budget. so at some point you had to move it. i think in terms of perfect process, you would have had more time, though. did you go to that white house rally after the vote? i did not. why? i think it s like george bush going up on top of the aircraft carrier saying mission accomplishe e accomplished. you have to be careful about these things. it s a solemn and weighty issues. i can t tell you the number of conversations i ve had here at home that describe situations for themselves or those that they love that are dire in consequence. so the idea of high fiving and spikg the ball in the end zone i think is dangerous. and frankly, we d t know what s going to happen. is the senate going to take it
you ve got folks, both detractors and proponents at home calling and e-mailing you. this stuff bubbles up. in some way it s a degree of political cheap shot. no member of congress can read every bill that s out there. it s a hot button issue. the bill is less than 200 pages in the original text and rit l literally and dozens of additional amendments. but that s what you have staff for. so you have to conflux of you folks in the media, advocacy groups, all boiling in on you. and this bill, whether you look it or not, was reasonably vetted. i don t like the process overall. i still think it was truncated. i still think we should have gone through a longer hearing process. why didn t you?
